  2. CANCELLED: Catherine Fransson, Author of "Loving the Enemy"

    March 14, 2020, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM @ Evergreen Branch Library

Author Fransson discusses her deeply personal memoir about caring for an estranged elder parent. Fransson’s elderly mother died in her eighties, leaving Fransson to care for her 95-year-old father, a rigid, emotionally distant figure for all her life. “Loving the Enemy” is the story of how with courage, time, and an open heart she was able to move beyond a tense estrangement with her father to discovering the joy of loving without conditions. Poet Bethany Reid said of the book: “It’s a tapestry woven of a lifetime of memories, rich though often painful; wisdom from poets and spiritual thinkers; and heartfelt guidance for now to find the words beyond the words.” Catherine Fransson graduated from Everett High and the University of Washington. After a career as counselor at Roosevelt High in Seattle, she earned a Master of Divinity at Seattle University School of Theology and Divinity.
