  1. National Safe Boating Week

    May 18, 2019 - May 24, 2019 @ Everett Waterways

National Safe Boating Week coincides with the start of boating & fishing seasons. In 2018, 103 boating accidents with 21 fatalities and 57 injuries were reported - over 70% happened between May & August. Be safe while enjoying the waterways! Get educated - Boaters are responsible for knowing the laws and keeping everyone safe. Always wear a life jacket - All vessels (including canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards) must have a properly fitted Coast Guard-approved life jacket for each person aboard. Bring communication devices - Carry two types of devices that work when wet to increase your chance of being located. Avoid alcohol and drugs - Designate a sober skipper! BUI laws apply to all boats - including kayaks, canoes and rafts. Check the weather - Conditions change quickly. Check warnings, weather conditions, tides, and wind/wave forecasts. Protect against cold-water shock - Falling into water under 60 degrees is dangerous even during hot weather.
