EVERETT, Wash. – Nominations are now open for the 2020 and 2021 Mayor’s Arts Awards and the prestigious Richard Wendt Award of Excellence. Nominations close at 5 p.m. on Nov. 8.
The awards will be presented at an event on Feb. 3, 2022 at the Everett Performing Arts Center. Since the pandemic postponed the 2020 awards, the event will be a special ceremony honoring the 2020 and 2021 award recipients. The event begins at 7 p.m. with a pre-event social hour at 6 p.m.
The annual awards recognize artists, arts organizations and community members committed to enriching the Everett community through the arts. All nominations will be reviewed and selected by Mayor Franklin and the Cultural Arts Commission.
The Feb. 3 event may change and will be subject to COVID-19 guidelines at that time.

About the awards
Richard Wendt Award of Excellence
The Richard Wendt Award of Excellence is given annually to a person or organization who has demonstrated outstanding support of the arts throughout their lifetime. The award is named for Dr. Richard Wendt, who passed away in 2007. Wendt was a long-time promoter of the arts in Everett and helped found the City’s Cultural Arts Commission and the 1% for the Arts program.
Mayors Arts Awards
The Mayor's Arts Awards recognize the many ways a vibrant arts community is created and sustained. Each year, the Cultural Arts Commission gives several Mayor's Arts Awards to people or organizations that have made Everett a better place through their creative efforts, vision or patronage.
The Everett Cultural Arts Commission is composed of volunteer commissioners who are appointed by the mayor. The mission of the commission is to initiate, sponsor, organize and promote cultural and artistic programs and services for the enrichment and enjoyment of the Everett community.
