[ARCHIVED] Fatal collision in Everett

092121-Fatal Collision-4100 Rucker

EVERETT, WA – Traffic Safety detectives investigate fatal collision in Everett.

At about 7:20 a.m. this morning, 911 received reports of a green SUV running red lights, swerving, and speeding on northbound Evergreen Way. An officer travelling south on Evergreen Way saw the green SUV driving at a high rate of speed and turned around, but the vehicle was out of sight. The officer proceeded north (where Evergreen Way becomes Rucker Ave), to the 4100 block of Rucker Ave where he observed debris in the roadway and saw the green SUV had collided with a white pickup. Both vehicles were in the parking lot of an auto repair business. The officer requested aid and initiated CPR on the driver of the white pickup until Everett Fire arrived and declared him deceased.

The driver of the green SUV, a 35 year-old Bothell man, did not appear seriously injured at the scene. He was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. His current medical condition is unknown.

Traffic Safety detectives responded to investigate the collision. At this time, they believe the green SUV, a Nissan Pathfinder, was travelling northbound at a high rate of speed. The white pickup, a Nissan Frontier, was southbound and turning left into a business. The Pathfinder struck the Frontier with the impact pushing both vehicles into the parking lot. Both vehicles were impounded as evidence and detectives continue their investigation.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the deceased driver, a man believed to be in his 40’s, and will release his identity as well as cause and manner of death.

Northbound Rucker Ave was closed from the 4100 to 4300 block for four hours during the investigation but is open for normal traffic.

Anyone with information about this collision is asked to call the Everett Police Department Tip Line at 425-257-8450.
