EVERETT, WA – Mayor Cassie Franklin delivered her 2021 State of Everett address at the Economic Alliance Snohomish County’s virtual event on Thursday, Jan. 28.

Franklin reflected on 2020 and the difficulties brought on by the pandemic, and shared her vision for Everett in 2021.

“This year, I’d like to call it our year,” said Franklin. “Now is the time to rise up and highlight our strength as a community, showcase our amazing assets and the opportunity we have to grow, expand, and achieve.”

The Mayor shared her priorities for the year which focus on four key areas:

  • COVID recovery
  • Good governance
  • Housing for all
  • Diversity, equity and inclusion

The address also included a Q&A with Chris Mefford, interim president and CEO of Economic Alliance Snohomish County. Franklin and Mefford discussed initiatives around economic development, green economy, parks, arts, placemaking, housing for all, police reform and equity.

In closing the Mayor talked about hope and unity, saying “I believe in this city and our community. We are stronger and at our best when we work together, and as I said at the beginning, it is Everett’s time to shine.”
