Leeroy's Long Wait

Picture of Koda

Koda, now named Leeroy, found himself at Everett Animal Shelter last October when his owners were having trouble with his energy level and manners. At 80 pounds, Leeroy was a big dog and was tough to handle. It was clear he was in need of training and structure to help him flourish. Staff and volunteers spent time working with him, teaching him commands, how to walk on a leash and how to play appropriately with other dogs. But finding him a home that was willing to continue training for a large, active dog would take time.

Thanks to you, we were able to give him all the time he needed until his new family found him.

Leeroy’s new dad sent us this update, and we couldn’t be more thrilled!

"Koda is now Leeroy after the famous Leeroy Jenkins video on YouTube (since he loves to go charging head first into everything it seems, loves running). He’s been amazing so far, a couple discipline issues, he definitely likes to do what he wants to but he is learning quickly!

He’s very intelligent and knows a lot more commands than I thought, trouble is getting him to want to do them. He’s doing great with his sit, down and come. His stay gets better everyday, learning a spin move too! We have walked everyday and he is working on not pulling. Shows no ill will towards other dogs or people when we walk by them, and only heard him bark once so far!

He’s a great boy with a lot of love to give and very eager to please. Very goofy and is always down to play! So happy to of brought him home!"
