EVERETT – The City of Everett is accepting name proposals for a new park that will be located in the Glacier View neighborhood. The 1.2-acre park will be adjacent to the new YMCA facility being developed at 4730 Colby Avenue.
The park, currently in the planning process, will be the first park located in the Glacier View neighborhood. It will include a playground and fitness equipment, rain garden, gathering plaza, open space and an interior walking path system.
“The new park will be a tremendous asset to the Glacier View neighborhood and the entire Everett community,” said Parks and Community Services Director Lori Cummings. “We encourage community members to share their ideas for what we should name our newest park.”
Community members can submit name proposals at www.everettwa.gov/parknaming. Public comments are being collected Wednesday, May 23, through Thursday, June 7. The Everett Historical Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, June 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the Hearing Room on the 8th floor of the Wall Street Building, 2930 Wetmore Avenue. Per the City’s public place naming policy, the Historical Commission will review proposed names and make a recommendation to the City Council.
