EVERETT – The City of Everett’s Office of Neighborhoods is accepting nominations for the 24th annual Monte Cristo Awards, a distinguished honor given to property owners who have shown extensive pride in their property. Nominations will be accepted through Sunday, July 1.
“The Monte Cristo Awards recognize neighbors who work hard to improve the street appeal of their property and keep it well maintained,” said Wendy McClure, neighborhoods and community engagement coordinator. “We encourage anyone who notices a beautiful property within the city limits to submit a nomination.”
Awards are given in four categories: Green Gardening, Rejuvenation and Transformation, Pride of the Neighborhood and Neighborhood-Friendly Business. In addition, the coveted Marian Krell Award recognizes previous Monte Cristo Award winners who have continued to excel in beautifying and maintaining their home or business over the years.“Everett is full of charm with beautiful properties in every neighborhood,” said McClure. “This is a wonderful opportunity to honor those who work tirelessly year-round to help make this city a special place to live.”
Winners are selected by neighborhood and community volunteers. Recipients will be recognized this fall and receive a Monte Cristo Award plaque for placement on the exterior of their home or business. The Everett Office of Neighborhoods team is working with the Council of Neighborhoods and neighborhood leaders to host localized award receptions throughout the city to honor recipients and increase community connections within the neighborhoods.
