Come, Learn the Ukulele!

Saturday, January 25, 2020

The library hosts an all-ages “ukulele party” on Saturday January 25, 2020 at both branches of the Everett Public Library. The Evergreen Branch (9512 Evergreen Way) party commences at 10:30am; the program repeats at 2:30pm at the Main Library (2702 Hoyt Avenue). There is no charge to attend. Twenty five ukuleles will be provided, but by all means bring your own if you have one. The ukulele is a wonderful instrument to learn on; it’s small and unintimidating, and its four nylon strings are easy on the fingers. It’s also portable, satisfying, and a ton of fun! These workshops/parties are conducted by Aaron Canwell of the band Micah and Me, based in St. Helens, OR, near Portland. The group has become a Pacific Northwest staple, playing at fairs, festivals, and museums region-wide. Canwell will take a progressive approach, beginning with carefully chosen one-chord songs and ending with a possibly five- or six-chord song, depending on the class.
