Pruning a Tree

There are a number of reasons why trees might need pruning, and care is needed to prune correctly. Improper pruning may injure your tree or produce the opposite of what you were expecting would happen. Pruning Resources
  • For more information on pruning young or mature trees, visit the Trees Are Good website.
  • If you are unable to perform proper pruning techniques yourself, we advise you to find a certified pruning professional through the International Society of Arboriculture.
Tree Topping

  • Requires continual pruning for the life of the tree to maintain the abnormal shape
  • Shortens the tree's lifespan
  • Weakens the tree’s structure
