History
  • 1991 - Development of the Tree Policy began.
  • April 27, 1993 - Everett Park Board and Planning Commission approved the Policy.
  • June 16, 1993 - The City of Everett Public Tree Management Ordinance and resolution authorizing adoption of a Public Tree Policy was approved.
  • The City of Everett Public Tree Management Ordinance authorized a subcommittee of the board of Park Commissioners, entitled the Tree Committee, giving them the primary responsibility of making recommendations to the Park Commission concerning implementation of the Tree Policy.
Accomplishments
  • Planted more than 4,000 street trees in Everett’s 19 neighborhoods since the year 2000
  • Helped develop and continue to participate in Arbor Day events
  • Developed and continue to make recommendations on Gateway Planting Guidelines
  • Developed and continue to participate in partnerships with Parks and Public Works departments and neighborhoods for street plantings, gateways, and park enhancements
  • Developed and continue to participate in processes to remove hazardous trees and replace them with appropriate plantings
  • Review / make recommendations on implementing and updating the Tree Policy for Parks and Public Works directors
  • Help develop grant applications for planting projects
