About the Committee for Housing & Community Development The Committee for Housing and Community Development was originally formed by city ordinance in 1974 to promote citizen participation for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Develops 5-year Consolidated Plan - Includes housing and community development priorities for the City of Everett
Develops 1-year Action Plan - Created yearly using the priorities listed in the Consolidated Plan to select projects to be funded with Everett’s CDBG
Holds a public hearing in November to gather information regarding the housing and community development needs of low and moderate income people who live in Everett
The committee sends a request for proposals in mid to late November.
Proposals are due in mid to late December.
The committee holds a series of 5 or 6 meetings to gather additional information about the proposals.
The committee develops a draft Action Plan.
After a 30-day comment period, the committee sends the Action Plan to the City Council for approval.
Upon City Council approval, the Action Plan is submitted to HUD.
