Applicants must also complete their Personal History Statement (PHS) via PublicSafetyTesting.com and the City's Supplemental Personal History Statement by the close of the filing window in order to be placed on the eligibility register.
The screening process will consist of a written test weighted 100% (pass score 70.00 and above) AND successful completion (Pass) on the Physical Ability Test (PAT) within the six months prior to the closing date. Public Safety Testing conducts the City of Everett's written and PAT examinations.
All portions of the process are designed to sample and measure the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities. Additional screening prior to appointment to the Police Officer (Entry-Level) position includes an employment and general background investigation as well as medical, drug testing, psychological and polygraph examinations.
Once you have successfully completed the testing process, applicants will be ranked on a list which will be approved by the Civil Service Commission. Starting from the top of the list, applicants will then begin the background investigation will begin which will include an initial interview, background check, criminal history check, polygraph (lie detector) exam, and suitability assessment.
Entry level officers start at a base monthly wage, currently $72,192 per year.
Second year officers have a base monthly wage, currently $79,056 per year.
*College incentive pay applies (noted below).
Third year officers have a base monthly wage, currently $94,620 per year.
*Pay increases with longevity, college incentive pay, and additional opportunities (noted below).
For 2019, the employer will match up to $2,363.92 per year.

In lieu of holiday time off, employees receive a holiday bank of 120 hours each year. If the bank hours are not used during the year, the employee can cash-out for the unused hours in December. Employees hired after the January 1st in a given year, the City may prorate the hours to be banked.
Officers have the option of receiving either the longevity or college incentive, but not both of the following:
