Breed-Specific Legislation

For many years the City of Everett has had breed-specific legislation that classified pit bulls as 'Potentially Dangerous Dogs' and imposed certain restrictions on confinement and ownership. On November 6, 2019, Everett City Council voted unanimously to remove this breed-specific language. The new ordinance will go into effect November 27, 2019.

Dogs that were previously classified as Potentially Dangerous by the City of Everett solely because of their breed – and not as a result of a bite or other aggressive behavior – will have this classification removed.
