Special Event Recycling

Festivals, fairs, parades and other special events bring communities together. However, these special events also generate a lot of waste and recyclables from the public, vendors, concessionaires, and exhibitors - a lot of waste!

We have a program to help:
We loan recycling containers to organizations that hold these special events. This gives you the opportunity to reduce your trash disposal expenses, enhance your reputation in the community and reduce the environmental impacts of your event.

What the special event recycling containers are:
The recycling containers have steel frames with color-coded lids that hold clear bags in place. The container frames are 40.5” tall by 24.5” wide and can hold 45 gallons of recyclables. Because the containers use clear bags, have restricted openings and informational signage, users find them easy to use correctly. The color-coded lids are blue for recycling, green for food waste and black for trash. The result is maximum recycling and food diversion rates, cleaner and greener events with an average of less than 3 percent contamination.

What the program costs for you:
Loaned special event recycling containers and the corresponding clear bags can be reserved for FREE on a first come, first served basis
If the containers are damaged or missing parts upon return, the borrower will be responsible for the replacement cost. The current replacement cost for damaged or missing containers is $100 per unit.

How you can participate in the program:
An authorized representative of organization holding the special event (the borrowing organization) will need to sign for the containers. The borrowing organization is responsible for the containers until they are returned. All returned containers must be free of garbage and liquids.

The borrowing organization is responsible for setting up the containers, removing collection bags from the containers, recycling the collected materials and any associated costs. For BEST RESULTS, place recycling and food waste containers next to every garbage can.
     ◦   Reducing, reusing and recycling present a positive image to event attendees who are used to recycling at home and work.
     ◦  Recycling conserves valuable natural resources and reduces energy and pollution associated with production from virgin materials.
     ◦  Recycling supports local businesses that collect or process recyclable materials.
