Karen Lamphere: cooking & nutrition

Detoxification is just one tool Karen offers as well as nutrition-based solutions to weight and other health problems.

In addition to her private counseling service, she has been teaching with Everett Parks and Recreation for almost a decade. Her classes encourage people from all walks of life to eat healthier by choosing fresh, whole, natural, organic foods and by preparing and cooking them at home instead of relying on processed and restaurant products. The key to eating well even during busy times is planning ahead, she says. Karen advises her students to plan meals, buy quality ingredients, spend time during weekends preparing parts of weeknight meals and sticking to a menu.

“I think that food is really powerful-for good or bad. It can make us really sick or make us feel good and be healthy,” she says. For example, just taste any of the recipes Karen demonstrates in her classes.
